Got $9 in gold dollars (?!) back in change from a MetroCard machine. And generally rejoiced over being reunited with NYC in the fall. What a lovely weekend 🙂
Did Jenny not only attach a basket to her carved h Did Jenny not only attach a basket to her carved hot air balloon pumpkin and hang it from our porch, but wire a lightbulb into the base with a cord from a busted steamer? She absolutely did. Classic Jenny.

Meanwhile, my pumpkin, Neville the Owl, lost his feathers in an unfortunate encounter with a hungry squirrel. Poor Neville. Although, true to his Harry Potter namesake: Also classic.

It’s technically a fruit and technically an accident but also! Technically a success.

Many people have said many wise things about the healing power of the ocean, and I bet they’re all true. There’s something magical about the just-right mix of warm sunshine with cool salty breeze and waves loud enough to quiet the chattiest of thoughts.

Also, we saw dolphins!!!

Every morning before work, Jenny and I play the ri Every morning before work, Jenny and I play the ring toss game. It goes like this: there’s a ring attached to our guest room ceiling by a string, and the point of the game is to toss the ring onto a hook on the wall. Sometimes it takes 20 tries. Sometimes 120. But we made a pact that if either of us got it on the first toss, they get free takeout.

No one will be surprised to learn that Jenny was the first one-toss champion, and she selected Pad Thai from Bangkok Wok. She was also the second one-toss champion... and we decided on a sliding scale: dinner for your first win, lunch for your second, breakfast for your third. We had Jimmy John’s at City Island that day.

Yesterday, I finally conquered the toss and choose a dinner that is basically the entire reason for this post: the Brussels Sprout Caesar from @home231 with a side of fries. Harrisburg people: do not sleep on this meal! It is so good!

In other news, Jenny had yet another one-toss victory (!) this morning. I suspect doping. I also suspect that Ressler’s will be on the menu for breakfast tomorrow :)
